An astronaut's holiday snaps

24th February 2010
We all know how tiresome it can be when a friend or a relative insists that you look through their entire holiday reel. And with the advent of digital cameras, and with it the ability to take thousands of shots, it’s been worse than ever.

But finally here’s one person’s travel shots that are absolutely mesmerising. Astronaut Soichi aboard the International Space Station has been uploading his photos from space to his Twitter account for a month now. To celebrate this stellar use of Twitter, here’s a selection of our favourite images from the last month:

Mt. Fuji

The Grand Canyon

Active volcano, Sakurajima, Kagoshima, Japan

Mahajambo, Madagascar

Tokyo, by night

Moonrise over Australia
