How can we stop robots rising up against the human race?

Ultimately we hold the power to stop our robot overlords.

The best robots today struggle to walk over uneven ground, never mind stage a successful coup. And while computing power has advanced enormously in the last 50 years, battery technology has not made the same progress, so we could probably defeat a robot army by controlling their access to recharging facilities. We’re much more likely to wipe ourselves out by accidentally bioengineering a new deadly disease or by poisoning the environment. A robot uprising would need machines that are more powerful, intelligent, self-aware, self-sufficient and malevolent than humans. At the moment, they don’t achieve even one of those goals, let alone all at once.
