That annoying flicker in your eyelid? It’s usually nothing to worry about. Known as myokymia, this harmless twitch is linked to tiredness, stress, caffeine or screen time.
Sometimes women wonder if it’s hormonal, but while hormonal shifts in perimenopause can cause muscle tension, anxiety and poor sleep (all indirect triggers), there’s no direct evidence linking oestrogen changes to eyelid twitching that I’m aware of.
You can look at your sleep, stress and caffeine consumption to address the triggers, but the twitching should settle spontaneously.
